Twenty-three years ago, what’s now the Cabanas Guesthouse and Spa was a quiet apartment rental complex called Sante Fe Landings. At first glance, this modest (and quite neglected) property didn’t seem like much. John Dorry and Bill Barnish (his partner) bought the property with the initial idea of it being strictly for investment purposes. However, when approached with the proposition of turning it into an elite all-male gay resort, Bill and John saw the potential for something greater, and so was the start of The Cabanas Guesthouse.

Over the years, other gay male-only, gay-owned, and gay-operated guest houses in the area have come and gone, but the Cabanas has always aspired for an unmatched experience, and because of this, it has stood the test of time.
