The Cabanas Guesthouse Staff Welcomes Michael Cook Back to our Team
From Midwest Farms to South Florida Beaches
Michael, originally an Iowa and Nebraska native, had spent most of his early life growing up in the agricultural Midwest, surrounded by farm life and enduring tough, cold winters. This eventually led Michael to desire a change in lifestyle and climate. In 2017, he decided he had enough of the cold winters, so he sold his house and business and headed to South Florida for a new, warmer chapter in his life.
Discovering Ft. Lauderdale and The Cabanas Guesthouse & Spa
While in South Florida, Michael came across a favorite in Ft. Lauderdale’s Wilton Manor: the Cabanas Guesthouse & Spa. In 2019 Michael began working at the Cabanas Guesthouse and Spa and had become a familiar, welcomed face amongst the guests and staff members. However, in 2020 when COVID struck, Michael decided to return to the Midwest once more.
A Brief Return to the Midwest
Michael and his partner Russell decided to move back to Iowa and purchase a family farm, which they completely renovated over the course of two years. They enjoyed the time being home, but still felt like something was missing. This, coupled with the cold winters and COVID finally calming down, made them conclude it was time to move back to Fort Lauderdale. And so began, another warm and sunny chapter in life for Michael, Russell and their two Shih Tzus and schnauzer (Tosha, Tinley and Bonnie).
A Welcomed Return to The Cabanas Guesthouse
Upon returning to Fort Lauderdale, Michael started visiting the Cabanas on Day Passes. With The Cabanas Guesthouse & Spa’s continued growth, his timing couldn’t have been better, since the Cabanas had been looking to add another person to their staff–plus, John & Bill (the owners) can now enjoy more time to travel!
The Cabanas Guesthouse & Spa couldn’t be happier to have Michael back again.
“We’re so glad to have Michael back here at the Cabanas!”
And as for Michael. he is ecstatic to be back with his friends and Ft. Lauderdale family at the Cabanas Guesthouse & Spa, where he enjoys volleyball, hanging out with friends, and when a change of pace is in order, traveling.
