New Nightclub Opens On Wilton Drive
Hidden in plain sight, there’s a good chance you’ve walked right by Wilton Manors’ newest nightclub and not even noticed. That’s okay. You weren’t supposed to notice.
No Manors took a low-key approach to its opening last weekend. Tucked away in the corner between a liquor store and the pizza shop in the Shoppes of Wilton Manors (Alibi Plaza), it’s easy to miss. Or, it was easy to miss before opening its doors and quickly cementing itself into South Florida’s LGBTQ party scene.
“The first night, there must have been 1,000 people,” General Manager Erol Zeren said.
By the looks of the front door, you’ll expect a small, neighborhood bar inside. But looks can be deceiving. The front has the main bar and lots of seating and a cool NYC vibe. Just off the lounge area is the second, smaller bar. The room has a total Florida feel, as the wallpaper features giant pink flamingos.
The lounge furniture can be easily moved to accommodate entertainment. It’s the performance lineup that has people buzzing, and creating rumors ranging from piano music to adult performances.
“They’re probably all true, and they’re all false,” Entertainment Director Ryan James joked. “We are really trying to create a unique entertainment experience here.”
Judging by James’ plans, edgy and avant-garde may be the best descriptors. Performers will range from stilt walkers to fire-eaters to burlesque and more.
“It’s supposed to be [an immersive] performance. You’re sitting there and suddenly there’s something incredible behind you. It’s not watching the show, you’re part of the experience.”
They intentionally took a less-is-more approach to marketing themselves. No Manors didn’t go live on social media until two nights before it opened. The party lasted all weekend, with solid, happy hour early crowds and packed with partiers late. Their Sunday Funday disco party lasted well into the evening, with a crowd four deep at the bar.
Owner Steven Bialos has deep roots in NYC’s club scene and has been looking forward to making his mark in Wilton Manors. No Manors is open Tuesday-Sunday.
