The Cabanas Guesthouse & Spa Statement on Cleaning Protocols

We take standards for hygiene and cleanliness very seriously and are taking steps to ensure the safety of our guests and staff. We have been closely monitoring the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization statements regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19). On a daily basis, we are working to ensure that they meet the latest guidance on hygiene and cleaning. Our health and safety measures are designed to address a broad spectrum of viruses, including COVID-19, and include everything from handwashing hygiene and cleaning product specifications to guest room and common area cleaning procedures. Specific steps the Cabanas Guesthouse is taking include:

Staff Health, Safety and Knowledge: Our staff – and their own health, safety and knowledge – are essential to an effective cleaning program. Here are some ways we’re supporting them:

  • Contactless Check In for Guest and Day Passer: We now have a contactless check in process which also requires taking the temperature of each guest during check in.
  • Pools and Hot tubs: We adhere to the Florida rule-compliant chlorine or bromine concentrations in pools and spas following proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs which is recommended by the CDC and World Health Organization.
  • Social Distancing and Mask for Guests: Recommendation for outdoor environments like pools and beaches are constantly being modified and updated. We request that our guests be familiar with current local guidelines by going to: Broward County.org.
  • Hand Hygiene: Proper and frequent handwashing is vital to help combat the spread of viruses. In our daily meeting, our staff is reminded that cleanliness starts with this simple act. Everyone on our team carries personal hand sanitizer and is reminded to use that regularly as well as share sanitizer with guest as they enter and exit any space where they come in contact. Hand sanitizer is also station in various areas around the property. It’s important for their health and that of our guests.
  • Ongoing Staff Awareness: In addition to training on housekeeping and hygiene protocols, our team is also being kept current on also enhanced COVID-19 awareness, providing real time updates. All staff a wear mask when on the property.
  • Cleaning Products and Protocols: We work with our suppliers to make sure our hotels can procure and use virus-killing products approved by the United States Environmental Protection Agency. We are using cleaning products and protocols which are effective against viruses, including:
Guest Rooms: We are using cleaning and disinfecting protocols to clean rooms after guests depart and before the next guest arrives, with particular attention paid to high-touch items.
Public Spaces: We have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting in public spaces, with a focus on the counter at the front desk, door handles, public bathrooms and even room keys.
  • Back of House: In the spaces where our staff works “behind the scenes,” we are increasing the frequency of cleaning and focusing on high-touch areas like entrances, lockers, laundry rooms and offices and residents.
