Fort Lauderdale Gay Beach Get Map

Fort Lauderdale Beach lies along State Route A1A (also known as Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard and Seabreeze Boulevard), and is divided into two main sections: north and south. The south section runs from Sunrise Boulevard to Las Olas and there are a plethora of gay owned and gay friendly businesses located on Sebastian Street.

Although not as popular, the northern beach is just as beautiful, and provides a nice escape from the crowds. This section of the beach begins at Sunrise Boulevard and continues to Oakland Park Boulevard.

Parking: The southern section is infamous for limited and pricey beachside parking. There is free parking on A1A north of Sunrise Boulevard and parking for $3.25 per car for all day parking at Hugh Taylor Birch State Rec Area, located just west of A1A on Sunrise Boulevard. Food: The southern section is lined with restaurants and bars, while the north section does not feature any restaurants or eateries.
Facilities: There are restrooms and private establishments located along the southern section, but no restrooms along the northern section, except for Hugh Taylor Birch State Rec Area (accessible by tunnel from beach).
Lifeguards: There are no lifeguards present along the northern section. Lifeguards are present from 10am to 5pm daily along the southern section.

Haulover Beach Get Map

Although not actually in Fort Lauderdale or Broward County, Haulover Beach is a hotspot for many gays and lesbians. The northern part of the beach is clothing optional. Haulover beach is located just about 1 mile south of North Miami Beach Drive (State Route 826) on Collins Avenue (State Route A1A). Driving time from Fort Lauderdale is approximately 35 minutes.

Parking: There are two large lots located across from the beach on the westside of Collins Avenue. Parking here is $4.00 for cars and motorcycles.
Food: There are usually food vendors on the weekends. You are welcome to bring your own refreshments, however glass bottles and containers are not allowed.
Facilities: There are beachside restrooms, outside showers, lounge chairs and umbrella rentals available for visitors.
Lifeguards: Lifeguards are present from 9am to 5pm daily.
Pets: Pets are not allowed on the beach or within the park on any day of the week.
